Continuation of Edward Charles and John Thorpe's title to land and a windmill at Herne Bay.

6 pages of paper measuring approximately 41 cm x 34 cm tracing Charles and Thorpe's title to 'two several pieces or parcels of Lands tog[ether] with a certain Windmill other Erections thereon situate lying and being at or near a certain place called Herne Bay...". The document describes part of the land as having been known as 'the Salts'.

The white post mill is Webster’s mill (demolished between 1887 and 1895) and the black open trestle mill without sails is Bell’s mill (last known to be standing in 1846), both in Leverington Road.

Mortgage and sale of a post mill at Messingham, Lincolnshire

Single vellum sheet (approx 77 x 60 cm) comprising a mortgage for £200 and bill of sale of the "Wind Post Mill" at Messingham as further security. Parties include Richard Kirkland, miller, and his wife (the prior miller's daughter) who signs by "her mark". Original document available for reference. A surrender relating to a Corn Mill at Easthorpe, Bottesford

1 sheet of vellum measuring 69cm x 57cm comprising a surrender of a mortgage concerning an estate at Easthorpe, Bottesford and signed and sealed by The Reverend John Furniss Ogle and John Scrimshaw, miller. £417 and four shillings is paid in consideration for the surrender which includes a Corn Windmill at Easthorpe, "together with the Dressing Mill, Flour Mill, Mill Stones, Binns, Sails, Sail Clothes, Ropes, Tackle and all the other Materials, Utensils and Implements whatsoever..."

Assignment of Corn Mill and Premises in Lydd.

This covenant deed is an assignment of Corn Wind Mill and Premises in Lydd, by way of a Mortgage for securing £600 and interest. On 27 May 1830, this indenture was made enabling Mr. Thomas Finn's successful mortgaging of the corn mill and premises to John Jeken Kennett, surgeon of Eythorne.
