Scope and content

The seventy second item is the second photograph of the old watermill of the small coastal village of Bosham located in the Chichester District of West Sussex, England. Like the immediate preceding print, the photograph was produced by E. H. Glover on 28th September 1928. A detailed description of the photograph is presented on the back of the image which is written in a later hand than that of Gardner. The description reads "The old water mill, Bosham. Sussex, showing the spire of the ancient church where there are still some Saxon trees visible. It was near this spot that King Canute is said to have forbade the waves to advance."
