Mortgage of a windmill and a watermill at Bridlington

One vellum sheet (approximately 69 cm x 88 cm), signed and sealed by all four parties. The document records the grant of a mortgage by Thomas Bradley, miller, to Thomas Robinson, gentleman, as trustee for Rebecca Bradley, spinster and Thomas Smith, yeoman, relating to a "wind corn mill" at Bridlington and a "water corn mill" at Hilderthorp, both properties being "near the high road leading from Bridlington Quay to Bessingby on or towards the south".

Assignment of rights relating to land at "Birkle with Bamford" as security for a loan.

Three sheets of vellum measuring approximately 70 cm x 86 cm comprising an assignment of land as security for a loan of £430 made by Benjamin Hay (cordwainer of Shepherd's Mill, Spotland, Rochdale) to Robert [K]ay and James Bentley. Amongst the parties are John and Susan Butterworth (Susan being the widow of John Ramsbottom) who both sign by their marks. John Butterworth is described as a woollen weaver of Rochdale.

Notebook from Royal Gunpowder Factory, Faversham

Pages from a 1798 notebook containing text and images relating to the processes carried out at the Royal Gunpowder Factory, Faversham. These have been pasted into another notebook, which has the following handwritten title page: "Papers and sketches relating to the manufacture of Gunpowder at the Royal Gunpowder Factory, Faversham in the last century. AGH and C Godfrey 23/10/78". The opening two pages are also stamped with "Curtis's and Harvey, Limited".

Release in fee of meadow or pasture at Beckery Mill, Glastonbury to Martha Phippen

One sheet of vellum measuring approximately 77 cm x 60 cm under which six acres of meadow or pasture are released to Martha Phippen by John Tucker and John Ivie in consideration for £400. The land is described as, "all those six acres of meadow or pasture ground (be the same more or less).... and lying at a certain place called Bridges alias Brides adjoining to a Mill commonly called or known by the name of Beckary Mill having the mill stream on the south side thereof....".

Later copy of Martha Phippen's last will and testament which references Beckery Mill, Glastonbury

5 paper pages (watermarked 1812) measuring 42 cm x 33 cm comprising a copy of Martha Phippen's last will and testament (made 10 February 1799). Under the will, Martha Phippen makes various bequests, chief of which is the bequest to her grandson, George Reeve, of Beckary Mill a "water grist mill" which she had "lately" contracted to purchase from Mr John May and "six acres of pasture ground at Brides near Beckary Mill aforesaid which I lately purchased in fee of Mr John Ivie...."
