Cutting from "Bolton Evening News". A public meeting was held at Weeton Mill to gain support for the preservation of the mill. Lord Derby, owner of the mill, had met with the Society in support of their aims to preserve the mill. A local committee was set up to raise an endowment fund of

Cutting from "Lancashire Daily Post" reporting that there was a 'move to preserve Weeton Landmark as an Ancient Monument'. Debating the issue of preservation of ancient landmarks led members of the Society of Ancient Monuments to visit Weeton Windmill.

Cutting from "Liverpool Post and Mercury" reporting an annual meeting of the Ancient Monuments Society held at Weeton aiming to get support for the preservation of Weeton Mill. Rex Wailes claimed Weeton Mill was an example of a tower mill which featured the 'automatic fantail'.

Cutting from "Blackpool Times". The Ancient Monuments Society come to the rescue by taking an interest in preserving the old mills of the Fylde. An authority on mills said "it seemed a pity that not one windmill was to be seen at work in the Fylde". Lancashire had a chance to see at least one windmill remained.

Cutting from "Northern Daily Telegraph". A plea for public support to preserve the old windmill at Weeton has been made to the Lancashire branch of the Ancient Monuments Society. Rex Wailes gave a talk about the need to preserve the old windmills of the Fylde area. He discusssed the history and development of windmills since their introduction following the Crusades.

A repurposed Army field message book labelled, "Bledlow Ridge, Summe Holiday June 1928, 1929 Easter in Anglesey" comprising: 5 pages of Rex Wailes' research notes, drawings and measurements from a visit to Bledlow Ridge Mill; 24 page narrative describing Rex Wailes' summer holiday (2 June to 13 June 1928) in which he toured a variety of Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire windmills, meeting several millers, mill owners and old friends en route (and recording an open invitation from a Swedish vice-consul for Wailes to visit Sweden to examine its old mills); 27 page narrative describing Rex Wailes' tour of Anglesey over the Easter bank holiday (28 March to 1 April 1929) in which he inspected both wind and watermills, using paperwork forwarded to him by his father, to survey the number of derelict mills (including notes on a mill at Tre-Arddur Bay which he records as the last mill worked by wind on Anglesey).
