Album of photographs windmills in England

Photographs taken from negatives created by Peter Pearce and B. R. Billings. They appear to have been in the possession of SPAB at the time of Stephen developing them. Peter Pearce's photographs of predominantly Sussex, with some in Essex, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Surrey, taken between 1925 and 1936. B. R. Billings' photographs were taken between 1913 and 1920.

"An Essex Windmill to be Saved - Noted landmarks threatened"

Cutting from "The Times" reporting that "Essex County Council has decided to take steps to save windmills in Essex from possible demolition". This was precipitated by a letter received from the Society of the Protection of Ancient Buildings expressing "concern at the rapid disappearance of windmills in Essex".

Note in the 'Southend Standard' that the Town and Country Planning Committee had recommended that the following buildings in Essex may not, without the prior permission of the Council, be demolished:- Stock Mill; Terling Mill; Aythorpe Roding Mill; and Great Bardfield Mill.

Cutting from 'Herts and Essex Observer' describing the intention of the Essex County Council to restore windmills in Stock, Aythorpe Roding and Great Bardfield using a sum not exceeding £500 every financial year.
