Album of photographs windmills in England

Photographs taken from negatives created by Peter Pearce and B. R. Billings. They appear to have been in the possession of SPAB at the time of Stephen developing them. Peter Pearce's photographs of predominantly Sussex, with some in Essex, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Surrey, taken between 1925 and 1936. B. R. Billings' photographs were taken between 1913 and 1920.

Part of Billings' unpublished manuscript. Series of two photographs, taken from W. Coles Finch's "Watermill and Windmills" entitled "Tenterden (Ashbourne Mill). In the process of demolition 1912". The first photograph shows the post mill upright and with sails. The second shows it minus sails, being pulled down to the right.

Demolished remains, Beacon Hill Mill, Newark

All that remains of the last wind mill (July 1928) in Newark, Notts. Formerly Mr Smith (aged 88) who is in this view remembered 8 mills in this vicinity. He bought this mill which adjoined his timber yard and had it pulled over by means of wire rope and engine last autumn. Notice remains of round house on right. French stones for flour on left.
