Warrant of Attorney to act in a legal action concerning two windmills in Ringland, Norfolk
One sheet of paper measuring 41 cm x 33 cm and folded in two. This warrant of attorney appoints two members of the King's Bench to act on William Christmas Rivett's behalf "in an action of Trespass and Ejectment of Farm" concerning various land and properties, including two windmills, at Ringland owned by Edward Palmer Clarke of Wymondham, Norfolk.
Mortgage and sale of a post mill at Messingham, Lincolnshire
Single vellum sheet (approx 77 x 60 cm) comprising a mortgage for £200 and bill of sale of the "Wind Post Mill" at Messingham as further security. Parties include Richard Kirkland, miller, and his wife (the prior miller's daughter) who signs by "her mark". Original document available for reference. 1 folded sheet measuring 38cm x 31cm recording an agreement between the agent of the Duchess of Kingston and Thomas Thorpe (miller) relating to the diversion of the water supply to Haughton Mill and a weekly lease of new corn mill at Thoresby Park, the Duchess' corn and malt to be ground free of charge. A second folded sheet measuring 41cm x 31cm gives, "An Account of all the Trees taken out of the Nurserys and Planted in the Parke to 31 December 1762", seeming to relate to tree planting at either Thoresby Park or Holme Pierrepont Hall.
