Mill House, Twyford

A photograph showing part of Mill House, and to the right of it a row of three-storey cottages built for silk workers on the High Street. The cottages were demolished in 1937.

Described some of the Mills (past and present) on the River Loddon and its tributories. Simmonds family (brewers and bankers in Reading) associated with Sindlesham Mill later taken over by Garfield Weston and later Moat house Hotel. Civil War mentioned.
