This photograph features Telham Hill Windmill of Battle , East Sussex, which is situated in close proximity to the site of The Battle of Hastings of 1066. The photograph was originally in the EMGC-01-10 folder containing the Alan Stoyel collection of handwritten notes pertaining to mills which are or were all situated in the county of Devon. The photograph from Alan Stoyel's collection has been moved to a more appropriate place. Gardner has not written the date of production for the photograph. However, an important note has been written by a different and later hand declaring "Copyright of the SPAB" which of course stands for The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings.

This Sub - Series is comprised of one photograph which is a particularly unique and significant item of the photographic collection. This image of Barthomley Mill in Cheshire is the only photograph E . M. Gardner took of a watermill in the county of Cheshire. This image was originally in the folder "EMGC-01-16" and has now been moved to the folder "EMGC-04" and has been catalogued as "EMGC-04-14". Originally, this photograph accompanied the postcards of various watermills that Gardner had collected. Incidentally, these postcards have also been moved from "EMGC-01-18" and are now in the postcard folder.

This Sub - Series features 10 photographs and 1 photocopy of a painting. There are three photographs of windmills, three photographs, one engraving and one photocopy of a painting which feature Animal Powered Mills and the last three photographs are copyrighted images of the Times newspaper demonstrating the industrial process of millstone manufacture. A postcard presenting an illustration of animal powered mills in India used to belong to this folder. However, this item as with all other postcards has been moved to the new postcard folder. It is important to note that the images of millstone manufacture have not been added as Digital Object files to the catalogue entries as The Times could still own the copyright of these specific images.
