Photograph from Victoria and Albert Museum of painting "The Camp at Cox Heath" by Sandby, showing post mill. It is not clear why this has been filed with the Berkshire material.
Cutting from "Kent Messenger". A party from the Folkestone Natural History Society visited Cranford church followed by a visit to the Old Mill at Cranbrook.
Photograph labelled on the reverse "One of the mills at Folkstone. The date of this print is probably prior to 1844, as the mill here shown has 4 sweeps: a print of 1844 shows 2 sweeps." Further annotations says "Folkestone", "This shows that a four-sweep mill stood near where St Michael's church now stands. There are still "Windmill Cottages, Charlotte Street" standing."
Copy of old photograph. The smock mill at Regent's Place, Ashford, was dismantled and re-erected at Badlesmere where it became Boundgate Mill. The photograph shows the mill - in its original white-painted form - being dismantled at Ashford. At Badlesmere it was tarred (LB 2006).
