(3) A photocopied newspaper clipping from [the Telegraph] reporting on the restoration of Mapledurham Watermill, also referencing Nicholl's concern about the future milling machinery at Rhydlydan Watermill, Wales. (3) Further notes, contacts, addresses and potential suppliers of materials are listed on the last 6 pages of the notebook.

The seventy third item is a photograph featuring Watermill, Gyrn-goch, Clynnog. This mill was located on the road south of Conway. The image is undated.
This Sub - Series is comprised of 88 photographs of a wide range of watermills located across the length and breadth of England and Wales. The photographs have been arranged into the alphabetical order of the respective name of the county in which they are located.
Report entitled, "Felin Geri. A twin water wheel driven corn and saw mill at Cwm Cou, Newcastle Emlyn, Wales. Owner: Duncan L. Fitzwilliam Esq." The report gives a general description of the mill, its history and location then summarises the findings of an inspection carried out by John Fairbanks, millwright, in 1973. Fairbanks asked David Nicholls (then working for F. Ingram Smith Ltd) to write the survey and report in December 1973. This identified "very serious defects" in the building, the total cost of the recommended restoration scheme being £12,500 with the work being completed over a period of 4 months.
Note on reverse includes "A wind and water mill combined. Cup handle by hand- chain sails tracking towards the top. A water wheel drive on the floor below the mill pond".

A government-supplied Shorthand Notebook dated May to August 1967, containing notes from visits to a variety of industrial buildings and works throughout the UK but particularly in Somerset, Westmorland and Wales. Sites visited include breweries, foundries, rope-walks, collieries, quarries and slate, brick and granite-works. The contents are itemized on the front cover. Mills visited are listed at 'Place access points' below. Unindexed mills at Bovey Tracey, Pontlliw (referencing Penallt millstones) and Felindre, Swansea were also visited, as was the millstone quarry at Penallt, Monmouthshire.
