Gedding, Suffolk

Part of the Rex Wailes collection.
On reverse:- 'Post Mill at Gedding near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.
A small mill in good repair; both round house and mill are electrically lighted from plant in steam mill (to the left). The extensions on the sweeps are Catchpool's patent regulator; a very ingenious device, but ineffective and now disused.
Signed K.J.T. 1925'

Tarrant, Kenneth J (fl 1923)

Thurston, Nr Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk

Part of the Rex Wailes collection.
On reverse:- After standing idle for several years, this mill has been fitted with a new set of sweeps, and thoroughly overhauled. She is now in full work. The photograph well shews the Suffolk plan of attaching the fantail gear direct to the ladder, thus dispensing with the tail tree.
Signed K.J.T. 1925
