"Friends in Rossendale

Cutting from "Haslingden Guardian". Friends of the author Allen Clarke will be delighted that Allens's son has agreed to give personal effects (chair, desk and documents etc.) to the proposed building project on land adjacent to the mill as well as restoring Marton Mill. This will be a much valued memorial to the author.

"The Bard of Windmill Land"

Cutting from "Cotton Factory Times". In the writings of Allen Clarke he immortalised the Fylde District of Lancashire's "Windmill Land". Also another author, Samuel Laycock brings to life the old Lancashire dialect in his book "Welcome Bonny Brid".

Cutting from "Blackpool Gazette and Herald". A Memorial to Allen Clarke is being considered by restoring the Marton Windmill.

Cutting from "Stockport Express" stating that Mr Clarke's best known work is "Windmill Land". The Blackpool Corporation are considering setting up a committee to oversee restoration and preservation of Marton Windmill.

Cutting from "Blackpool Gazette and Herald". A committee of Fylde residents and the Mayor of Blackpool as president has been formed to preserve Marton Windmill in memory of local author Allen Clarke. Mr Cornelius Bagot the current owner of the mill has offerd the mill as a gift to the committee. A survey has shown that a considerable amount of money will be required to restore and preserve the windmill.

Cutting from "Manchester Guardian". At the March meeting of the Lancashire Authors' Association held in Preston a lecture was given on "Allen Clarke and his works". Before the lecture a wreath was laid on the grave of Allen Clarke in Marton Cemetery.

"A Seasiders Diary - The Story of The Marton Mill"

Cutting from "West Lancashire Evening Gazette". Marton Mill is to be purchased by the by the Corporation (Blackpool and Fylde), restored and maintained as a memorial to the local author Allen Clarke. The mill owner and his ancesters have owned the mill since it was built in 1838. There was an earlier mill before the present one but was in a very poor state and was demolished.

Cutting from "North Cheshire Herald". Marton Mill will be of "considerable interest to mill folk who will be travelling to Blackpool this weekend" as it is the cotton town holiday season. The mill has a special attraction as it is going to be converted into a memorial to Allen Clarke. The mill will be fully restored with the interior as a museum.
