Letter from Brian Thackrah & Ptnrs, Consulting Structural Engineers to Bernard Liddle Ltd, cc Croysdales, with their report on the soils underneath proposed four flour silos. They conclude that for the silos raft slab foundations will be adequate, but for the intake Building it will be necessary to use piles.

Certificate and Schedule as to means of escape

Factories Act 1961 Certificate and Schedule to the Certificate as to Means of Escape in Case of Fire in respect of the Factory at Eggborough, Whitley Bridge, Near Goole, occupied by John Croydale and Sons Ltd. Lists buildings on site and escape routes from the areas within the buildings. States 32 men and 4 women are employed in the factory and that 1000 gallons of petrol is stored on site. Signed by the clerk of the West Riding of Yorkshire County Council and replacing the Certificate issued by Osgoldcross Rural District Council.

Quotation for 'Brabender Quadrumat Junior Experimental Mill'

Letter of quotation for supply and delivery an experimental mill produced by German company Brabender for DM. 11,500.00 (£3,450.00). Letter addressed to Mr Mair, J.Croysdale Ltd, and signed by J Callaghan, Henry Simon Ltd. The mill is described as 'an automatic, self-contained unit (including motor, sifting and aspirating systems) which offers the following advantages:- simple and foolproof operation; close duplication of commercial milling; extremely good duplication of results; simple to keep clean and sanitary. This would be an additional equipment for the laboratory being set up at the time. Measuring 410x480x700mm it has a capacity of 150 gms in 3 minutes.

Quotation and specification for supply of Cereal Laboratory Equipment

Quotation for one Simon Water Absorption Meter at £350.00, addressed to Mr Mair and signed by Michael a Hill of Henry Simon Ltd. This follows the acquisition of the Whitley Bridge Mill by Bowmans in 1975, but still apparently trading as John Croysdale and Son Ltd. Item WBMC-060 mentions Bowmans pioneering enterprise in setting up laboratory facilities at the mill. The specification is included.

Laminated flow diagram of a 'Mobile Muhle'

Laminated flow diagram on two sheets, in German, produced by Buhler, Swizerland, of a 'Mobile Muhle, Modell 70', working at 700 kg per hour. This was produced for the Swiss Army and mounted on a trailer. Bomans acquired it for the Whitley Bridge business and dedicated it to making kosher flour. (WBMC-060, page 26).

Annotated stating hatched areas were sent to Billingham 29/10/80. WBMC-032 refers to a quotation for the roadway works to be done , which was refused.

Pack of documents from E.Rand & Sons (Milling) Ltd, Berwick-upon-Tweed, to Mr A.G.Bowman Managing Director, Whitley Bridge. Titled 'Proposal for nest of nine wheat storage silos at Whitley Bridge'. Nine timber units in the main storage building are to be replaced by Steel silos. The tendered prices for supply of silos is £23,150.00 and for erection of the equipment is £12,175.00 making a total for the work of £35,325.00. Two plans are included in the pack.
