"Berkswell Windmill opens to public"

Illustrated piece from the Kenilworth Weekly News marking the completion of restoration work of Berkswell Windmill which- truth to tell - is closer to Kenilworth than Berkswell. The new owners, Mr George Field and his wife Betty, employed the millwright Derek Ogden to assist with the work and now it will be open every Sunday until the autumn. After the tower mill was built in 1826 on the site of a post mill, it was run by the Hammond family for three generations, and a diesel engine was added in 1933, but the mill went out of use in 1948.

"George grinds to a victory"

Story in the 'Covenrty Evening Telegraph' about Mr George Field's efforts to get financial backing for his plans to restore Balsall Heath Mill in Berkswell with the help of the millwright Derek Ogden.

"It's the windmill of his mind"

Cutting from the 'Coventry Evening Telegraph' about the raising into position of the four tons of sails which means that George Field's ambition of getting Balsall Heath Mill back to working order [with the aid of millwright Dereck Ogden] has been realised.
