Dressing or wire machine Higher Costa Mill, Middleton

The seventy sixth item is the second photograph featuring the water wheel of the Higher Costa mill of Pickering near the town on Middleton in North Yorkshire. The photograph is undated. We are informed that this particular watermill was also known by the name of "Hoods Mill". The photograph was taken by R. L. Shaw of Beacon Park, Pickering, Yorkshire.

Watermill at Bosham

The seventy first item is the old watermill of the small coastal village of Bosham located in the Chichester District of West Sussex, England. The original photograph was produced by E. H. Glover on 28th September 1928. A detailed description of the photograph is presented on the back of the image which is written in a later hand than that of Gardner. The description reads "The old water mill, Bosham. Sussex, showing part of the harbour in the middle distance. Tradition says that it was at Bosham that King Canute forbade the waves to advance. There are several Saxon remains in the quaint little church." It is recorded that this photograph was the "copyright of E. H. Glover, 33 Fleet Street."

Watermill at Bosham

The seventy second item is the second photograph of the old watermill of the small coastal village of Bosham located in the Chichester District of West Sussex, England. Like the immediate preceding print, the photograph was produced by E. H. Glover on 28th September 1928. A detailed description of the photograph is presented on the back of the image which is written in a later hand than that of Gardner. The description reads "The old water mill, Bosham. Sussex, showing the spire of the ancient church where there are still some Saxon trees visible. It was near this spot that King Canute is said to have forbade the waves to advance."
