Alan Gifford comments: "New oak sub curb timbers were fitted before the refurbished curb and internal rack were refitted. New rollers and link bars were installed. A temporary cap was then fitted to protect the interior."

Alan Gifford comments: "When the Great spur wheel's new teeth were matched to the old stone nut it was realised the latter needed re-cogging!"

Alan Gifford comments: "A temporary site work shop was set up to enable the , cap, wooden brake wheel, iron wind shaft and striker gear to be refurbished. New cast iron teeth segments were fitted to the brake wheel."

Alan Gifford comments: "Unusually there are twin drives from the fantail, plus a hand winding facility if so needed. Also visible is one of the truck wheels. All of this was taken off site and refurbished as needed."

Wall plaque of George Chell Millwright on Heage Tower Mill
Alan Gifford comments: "George Chell was a millwright from nearby Crich who rebuilt mill after tail winding in 1894. The stone plaque is still visible high in the wall of his house in Crich."

Brake wheel in Heage Tower Mill
Alan Gifford comments: "The wooden brake wheel probably dates from the 1894 repair after tail winding. In 1991 it had no cogs or teeth and was made 'secure' by baulks of timber wedged though the wheel."
