Not shown in Short's register, details off a duplicate card. The mill is clearly disused without its fantail. The four patent shutterless sails are in good condition.
Simmons, Herbert Edward Sydney (1901-1973), mill researcher
No I/D nor date, sadly. Not even sure this is a Simmons card, since there's no mention in Short's Register: but they may have got it under a completely different parish !! - TKG

Picture, probably taken around 1935, of Syd Simmons pushing his bicycle uphill beside Winding Bottom [c.TQ 185 085] in the Adur Valley . Shoreham Cement Works is working well and, on the extreme right, is the square tower of St Nicholas Church in Old Shoreham.
Muggeridge, Donald William (1918-2015), photographer
The four sping sails are in a bad condition while the buck appears sound. The roundhouse has collapsed. Photograph taken 25/8/1934 so this could be #1196 but that's supposed to be Black Mill, Warbleton, according to Short's Register - TKG
