E M Gardner (d. 1959) was the driving force behind the inclusion of watermills in the remit of the Mills Section of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings. She served on the Committee of the Section and published several works on watermills. Part of a large amount of archival material in the possession of the Mills Section of the SPAB, which was transferred to The Mills Archive in February 2004.
