Post mills
The back of this postcard reads: 'This is the oil Mill which I saw once but did not enter in 1928. It was burnt down recently and the miller now keeps an estaminet. We were in a working oil mill on Tuesday & also a charming mill with a 3-stack wooden archimedian screw 4ft diameter and 13 inch pitch about 12ft long. Yesterday we saw a sail put up and had dinner with the 16 stone president of the windmill association, his equally large & jolly wife and one of the best known old millwrights. They all looked (including the family) as if they had walked out of an old Dutch picture. Weather fine but V [very] high winds & mills are grinding without any cloths set. Expect to be in Paris Monday and Tuesday. Address c/o Webster as don’t know which hotel. RW'
