Mill erected in 1863. Reverse of card contains hand written technical notes from Mr Lancaster Burns about the sails, the gearing, the pump and the standby engine,

Guston, Swingate Mill. Report No 52, Aug 1965. Cap removed, brick in fair order. Neglected and probably a store

The building is set in a water pumping works and the smock mill must have at one time been part of it. A water tank stands on top of he tower for a purpose unknown.
