Biographical history

Hallam Ashley (1900-1987) was a photographer. Much of his work involved photographing buildings for the National Monuments Record. He was also keenly interested in Mills, something which resulted from his friendship with mill expert Rex Wailes, and worked closely with the Mills Section of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings.
