Name of creator
Alan Stoyel is a researcher and enthusiast with a wide knowledge of watermills throughout the UK. He has studied mills of certain regions where he has lived in particular detail. Alan restored his own watermill, Venn Mill at Garford, Oxfordshire, in the 1980s. He is also a Mills Archive trustee.

Scope and content
UK and foreign mills. Photographic material includes prints with negatives and 35mm slides. Alan's collection covers specific regions in detail (eg. Cornwall, Oxfordshire, Kent and Herefordshire and of Belgium and Spain). Includes material donated by other researchers eg. Rex Wailes and Martin Watts, as well as Alan's father Derek. Alan's original notes and photographic material were compiled from the 1950s onwards.

Conditions governing access
The majority of Alan's collection is currently still in his possession. As a trustee of the Mills Archive, he has agreed that his collection will eventually be transferred in its entirety to the Archive. Until then access to some originals for viewing may be difficult, although higher-resolution copies of the images online here may be inspected at the Archive - please email firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange an appointment.
