Geoffrey Abbott joined the RAF before the Second World War. In the 1960s he was stationed at RAF High Wycombe and in his spare time helped with the restoration of Lacey Green smock mill. In the 1970s he was posted to a NATO HQ in the Netherlands. In 1974 he became a Yeoman Warder at the Tower of London.

Abraham, Edward Mitford (1882-1959)

Edward Mitford Abraham was born in 1882 and lived at Caydale Mill, Yorkshire. He was a Quaker and descendant of Margaret Fell, wife of George Fox. He inherited Swarthmoor Hall, Ulverston (then in Lancashire, now Cumbria), home of Margaret Fell and centre of early Quakerism, and lived there from 1940 to 1954, when he sold it to the Society of Friends. Some of his brief notes on windmills were published in Ulverston in 1949. He died at Green House Farm, Colton, Ulverston in 1959.
