A 'spring folio', binding together loose pages comprising 'Windmill Notes, compiled from various sources by T.B. Paisley'. The folio is divided into the following sections: 'English Windmills. Arranged by Counties' and 'Foreign Windmills' (USA and France). The folio covers the counties listed at 'Place access points below' with brief details of selected post, tower and smock mills there and the date visited.

3 pages of A4 paper, folded around 16 pages of notes taken from two smaller notebooks. Notes taken on mills in Somerset, Devon, Cornwall, Wales and Yorkshire, with more detailed notes on a windmill at 'Brill, Bucks' which is also labelled 'Wilford's mill'.

Articles of partnership for Oldham, Amory and Booth, millwrights, Kingston upon Hull

2 sheets of vellum measuring approx. 79 cm x 64 cm, comprising the articles of partnership between William Oldham, Joseph Gilby Amory and John Booth and signed and sealed by all three partners. The partnership carried on the trade of Millwrights, Engineers, Iron and Brass Founders and Bone Mill Manufacturers in Kingston upon Hull and had been formerly known as Oldham, Amory and Smith.

A note inside the box says: "Borrowed by Watermill Section. eight photographs Letherdale Textile Mill Yorkshire. Signed by M Dance 29/11/63".
A second note says: "Returned with many thanks by C.P. Davies 7 Narrabeen Rd Cheriton Folkestone Kent".
A note by Stephen Buckland on the box says: "Note D H Jones has the negs (1965) & the J. Rylands microfilm".

Agreement of sale for the Hays Hygeian Flour Mills and associated properties, Kingston upon Hull

10 page paper document. Agreement between Walter Fred Harris (representing the Trustees of the Debenture holders of Hays Hygeian Flour Mills) and Benjamin Thompson (agent of J. G. and B. Thompson Limited, Corn Millers) for the sale of Hay's Hygeian Flour Mills in Kingston upon Hull (being "the land, steam Flour Mills, offices and buildings" on the west side of Grosvenor Street, further properties on the east side of Walmsley Street, the land forming the riverside wharf on the east side of Wincolmlee and associated fixtures, equipment and machinery). Contains also a printed copy of the General Conditions of Sale of the Hull Incorporated Law Society. Original document available for reference.

Indenture relating to a watermill at Darley, Dacre and Bewerley

1 sheet of vellum measuring 81cm x 63cm, sealed with "the mark of Henry Clint" of Darley, in which he grants a "feoffment of a watercorn-mill, land and premises in Darley and Dacre with Bewerley" to William, Nathan and Amos Bake of Dacre in consideration for the payment of £1425. The mill is known as "Darley Mill" and the feoffment references Darley Beck.

A year's lease for a watermill at Mill Bridge, Liversedge

1 sheet of vellum measuring 62cm x 39cm comprising a lease from Thomas Greenwood and Benjamin Wood of a corn mill at Mill Bridge, Liversedge to Elizabeth Kershaw. The description of the demised property includes, "All that Mill or building situate and being at Mill Bridge aforesaid used as a Corn mill with the water wheel, steam engine, engine house, drying kiln, machines, hoppers, Mill stones and all other implements, fixtures, geerings and things belonging to the said mill...". The indenture is signed and sealed by Wood and Greenwood.
