Shotesham mill, pit gear with stone nut

The fortieth image features the pit wheel and gearing to stones of the watermill in the small village of Shotesham St Mary in south Norfolk. The watermill is on the river Tas. The photograph was produced in 1969.

Shotesham Watermill

The third item of this Sub - Series is a photograph of Shotesham Watermill in Norfolk. The image is undated. However, we are informed that the photographer was Hallam Ashley. A description is printed on the back of the photograph which informs us that "The Watermill at Shotesham, in Norfolk, for over two hundred years formed part of a beautiful and famous scene. It has been needlessly destroyed despite the efforts of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings."
