This resume gives historical context of the River Lea and its tributaries on its way to the River Thames. The navigation of the River Lea via canal and river were improved to enable barges to carry larger cargoes to and from London. Many mills wee established along the length of between Hertford and Bow, milling flour, malt and barley etc.
