A 'spring folio', binding together loose pages comprising 'Windmill Notes, compiled from various sources by T.B. Paisley'. The folio is divided into the following sections: 'English Windmills. Arranged by Counties' and 'Foreign Windmills' (USA and France). The folio covers the counties listed at 'Place access points below' with brief details of selected post, tower and smock mills there and the date visited.

Note on reverse reads: "Three windmills formerly worked in this district, all prominent landmarks and to be see from the main road from Nottingham to Newark. She was the last survior to work, but finally ceased 1918. The other two in the direction of Newark are East Bridgeford and Kneeton. The derelcit towers (one arm) still stand"

Demolished remains, Beacon Hill Mill, Newark

All that remains of the last wind mill (July 1928) in Newark, Notts. Formerly Mr Smith (aged 88) who is in this view remembered 8 mills in this vicinity. He bought this mill which adjoined his timber yard and had it pulled over by means of wire rope and engine last autumn. Notice remains of round house on right. French stones for flour on left.
