Lantern slides taken from negatives in the collection and a lantern slide produced by Newton and Co. Ltd., Covent Garden (code BNL 671) of John Crome's "A Windmill on Mousehold Heath".

Warrant of Attorney to act in a legal action concerning two windmills in Ringland, Norfolk

One sheet of paper measuring 41 cm x 33 cm and folded in two. This warrant of attorney appoints two members of the King's Bench to act on William Christmas Rivett's behalf "in an action of Trespass and Ejectment of Farm" concerning various land and properties, including two windmills, at Ringland owned by Edward Palmer Clarke of Wymondham, Norfolk.

Notebook labelled, "No Mills", containing a list of buildings/works/sites in Norfolk, Hertfordshire and Shropshire with reference to possible map co-ordinates or reference/ listing numbers from a directory [perhaps for Listing or Scheduling?]. Despite the label, the list does include some mills. Examples of the locations listed include a gasworks in Fakenham, an old skating rink from c. 1870 in Bethel Street, Norwich, Ware railway station, Redbournbury watermill and Coalbrookdale Ironworks at Ironbridge

Deed of covenant and various agreements: Reckitt & Colman Ltd, Norwich

Agreements relating to the merging of J & J Colman Ltd (mustard manufacturers and millers) with Reckitt & Sons in 1938 to form Reckitt & Colman Ltd. The new company (Reckitt & Colman) agree to be bound by the rules of the Millers' Mutual Association. Includes documentation from 1951 relating to the transfer of all flour milling activities to Carrow Flour Mills, Norwich.

Codicil to the will of John Squire, farmer and miller, Fishley and Acle

One sheet of paper measuring 40 cm x 32 cm and folded in two. This is a codacil to the will of John Squire, "late of Fishley in the County of Norfolk but now of Acle in the same County, Farmer and Miller", amending his will of 3 October 1974 to replace the appointment of his brother, Albert Squire, as executor, trustee and guardian with the the appointment of his son, "John Squire the younger".

Northants: notes taken from 'Northants Notes & Queries, New Series, Vol.4, 1912-1920' relating to: a 1609 grant by James 1 of a post mill at Kettering; the history of an unindexed tower mill (located on the site of a former post mill on Rockingham Road, Kettering) which was demolished in 1893; 18th c. maps of Kettering showing the location of various mills and a 19th c. print showing a post mill at Peterborough; also notes about the post mill at Seaton, Rutland which was demolished in 1917 as well as the nearby watermill, Henry Royce being said to have worked at both mills as a boy.
Suffolk: research notes relating to Suffolk windmills including construction dates, operational status in 1926,1939 and 1955 and including the notable features listed in 'Subject access points' below.
Windmill restoration: eight pages of draft narrative rehearsing the demise of wind and watermills since the late 19th c. and extolling the efforts of John Russell to restore and preserve Union Mill, Cranbrook. The narrative rehearses the preservation efforts made by a number of local authorities (counties listed in 'Place access points' below) arguing that it should be essential for such work to be their responsibility.

Two vellum sheets (approx 59 x 72 cm and 55 x 69 cm). Mortgage of a piece of land 'formerly parcel of the Common called Pound Green in Burston ... whereupon a Brick Tower Windmill Stable and other Outbuildings have been erected and built,' with 'all and singular the flour Bins Sails cloths ropes going gears fixtures and Chattels belonging to or used with the said Windmill,' together with other premises in Burston, to secure the balance of the account of Charles Christopher Simonds (miller) at the London and Provincial Bank Limited. Conditional Surrender relating to the Manor of Tacolneston, Norwich

Double-sided handwritten sheet (approx. 50cm x 39cm) documenting the surrender of rights and land in the Manor of Tacolneston by Barnabas Burroughes (miller) of Aslacton in favour of Walter Mace (Boot and Shoe Manufacturer, Norwich) on the condition that these rights might be resumed on the re-payment on 16 April 1871 of the £250 consideration paid by Walter Mace (plus interest).
